This place was founded before WrongPlanet was bought out by Autism Speaks, and I for one still stand in opposition to that move, despite all the rhetoric about building bridges between communities. There are some people and some organizations you don't want to build bridges with. As awful as WP was and as much fun as people had had trolling the hell out of it, it did less harm to the autistic community without corporate shills.
So where is the "unity with autistic people" now? I don't know. I haven't been back there in years. Statistically it's obvious that there are autistic people in the world I personally don't have unity with, but a principle about detracting from unity is a bit of rhetoric too, anyway. Take the community here as you see it, rather than as conforming to the letter of the principles.
