it's one of the reasons this stuff worries me so much, because people find it so unlikely that anyone will ever have evil intentions.
even if a politician spouts it as directly as you said "we should HANG THEM!" their own voters go "he probably doesn't mean it :)"

Hitler was voted in by democracy.

Just to add to my previous post,  what I meant when I said I don't have a problem is that I don't have a problem with debating the topic of immigration.  I would be happy to argue with these people all day long.

Too much PC crap prevents people from even asking about immigration.  Like it has become a dirty word and if you so much as mention it you will be labelled as racist.   That isn't right.   Many people just don't have the accurate information and fall prey to the scaremongering of parties like Ukip.  Immigrants are stealing all our jobs and benefits  (well they can't be doing both at the same time)  and the real truth is that the amount of unclaimed benefits far exceeds the benefits claimed by 'immigrants'.

This kind of atmosphere  (i daren't talk about immigration) creates a kind of undercurrant that Ukip tap into.  People think they have found their voice.

I know, and it's another unfortunate attraction to them, that they "dare" talk about it. Unfortunately, socialists also talk about it. It's just that this becomes too much info for most normal people.

For example, why does Norway _not_ accept the double of immigrants, they have accepted so far? Because our previous, socialist, government set a limit. THEY said "no, STOP. NO MORE immigrants. We have enough now." but people don't experience that. Who expelled criminal immigrants, and stops countless of them at the border before the right-wingers came to power? Left wingers! Left wingers expelled immigrants, and stopped many of them from entering. But nobody noticed, cus it was a daily routine.

No! No! No!  I nearly sicked up my pizza when I read that.  I am used to attributing acts like that to psycho serial killers.  Just one individual in a whole community.    Not a whole community.

Mass media seems to just report for the masses.  There are a few individual journalists who literally risk life and limb to report real events.  They rarely get much recognition.  Yalda Hakim is one I can think of off the top of my head.  You have to look for stuff like that and most people don't.

I went through a 'mad phase' after 9/11.  I put my TV in the skip and didn't have one for five years.  I was bored shitless by sitcoms and soaps and was just disgusted at what i saw on the news.  I went to work everyday but my spare time was spent alone with my dogs.  I really didn't want to engage with the human race at all and was completely blind to what was going on in the news.  I obviously 'got over' it and it seems extreme now but i needed to zone out like that.  The evil that people do to each other is something i can't fathom.  Ignorance is bliss as they say.

You are absolutely right about that, I often find myself reading about events that I barely even heard about - only to find out that the event is, on top of that, thoroughly documented! For example the ethnic cleansing in Sri-Lanka, not to mention the extremely harsh military crackdown now recently.
I was quite surprised at the surreal horror of it, how well documented it was, and how little I had heard about it, through the usual channels.

Like you say, it is up to the individuals to find out about these things, which is unfortunate :I
(part of the reason I made the Yugo-thread, that nobody has commented on >:'I even there, an event so close to home, it was mostly superficial details that came in the news, most famously the NATO bombing, and the ethnic cleansing of Bosnia. While the details that create a complete picture are mostly left out. People are left ignorant as to why these things keep happening!)

The voters are motivated by fear and hate, yes, he would do it, and he would get support from a lot of his voters. Not from all. Some would come to their senses, because of it. But, by then, it would be too late.

I go through phases like that.

But, I do have a pretty decent newspaper now. I do not watch the news, now and then I will watch an extended documentary. I often skip the headlines, but will read a two page article about things in the world happening. Unless I am in full hiding mode. Then my daughter will read the paper, and I will make sure it will be brought to the waste paper collection, neatly packed with the other papers.

With all information around, it is impossible to keep track of it all. It is so much. So many places on this earth.

It seems unbalanced to me. Why are there so many liberal parties and only one conservative party (not counting the EPP)? :GA:

Thoughts on the elections?

Liberal can be right wing liberal, or left wing liberal. Socialists can come in progressive and conservative shape. The words liberal and conservative have a different notion here than in the USA. Probably a very different notion in every European country participating in the European Union.

"Liberal" is synonymous with "left wing" in America, although you can be an economic liberal, a social liberal, etc. We also have Democrats (liberals) represented by blue, and Republicans (conservatives) represented by red. :GA:

UKIP scares me. I predict that the possible first moves of Nigel Farage if he becomes Prime Minister will be the following:

1) Remove the UK from the EU
2) Deportation/Very strict immigration
3)Major changes to the education system
4)Actions against multiple religions
5)Ban the equal marriage act

This is what happens when people don't vote. People vote for either the far-right or the far-left and then they get into power and bugger everything up.

We now have bigots speaking for us in Europe who don't believe that the EU should exist. Good job Britain!  :facepalm2:

Yes Ukip don't even go to the meetings.  They just collect their fee.  They don't even bother to vote.

Other plans include reinforcement of the Church of England and handing back estates and other national treasurers to the monarchy.

One tax band for all.  So someone on a minimum wage (unless they scrap that too) stacking shelves will pay the same rate as millionaire bankers!

Xd!

UKIP fucking SLAUGHTERED the dems. The grin on Farage's mug was a sight to see. Hopefully   when it  comes to the next elections.

If that noxious lying battyman, Clegg fly is forced out, Farage's bit fuckoff grin is going to be a mere covert little smile, compared tp mine.

I would :GA: if Nigel Farange becomes Prime Minister (although I don't think he's eligible, as he's not a member of the British Parliament :dunno:). We had George W. Bush for eight years; now, it's your turn. :zoinks:
