I've been binge-watching all three series of the BAFTA award winning mockumentary "This Country" on BBC i-player. It's really funny, and oddly enough, IMO it unexpectedly does a better job than a real documentary of conveying the hopelessness of life for your average. none-too-bright British young adult; not just those who live in the countryside. The ones in the city find more opportunities, maybe, but they're equally crappy opportunties; and the scenery is uglier.
To my surprise , i found myself developing quite a bit of sympathy for the thick-as-bricks cousins Kerry and Kurtan (written and played by the Cooper siblings, and based on their actual experience of life in a Cotwold village) . That didn't stop it being funny though.
I just heard that an USA version is in the pipeline, FFS. I hope you Americans can manage to watch the original instead.
