Bacon

(It really doesn't agree with me if it's crispy. And limp bacon is impossible to get at a diner.)

I can not really eat bacon if it is not really brown and crispy.

To me a restaurant can not cook bacon fully, to my satisfaction.  We could probably never live together.

Yes we could.  We'd just use 2 frying pans.

Good thinking.

I actually use several frying pans.

Because vegetarian or not, the sight of badly treated bacon is a pain in the eye. I would take all the time to give it slow love, getting it very crispy. I was the bacon expert.

Worst thing the housemate could cook was red cabbage though. It would end up like light green goo, without any taste.

Every monday, when this girl had to cook, one of us would try to be home early, to assist her, and hopefully teach her something.

I don't want her to pull out an AK47 and blow me away.

But I do want her to pull out a lightsaber, hand it to me and say "You're destined to be a Jedi-Wizard, so I'm taking you to Charles Xavier's school for gifted youngsters where you will be trained by Syrio Forel, the Winchester brothers, Master Yoda and Professor Lupin the arts of badassery."

Makes me think of the many ways one of my old "housemates" tried over and over to serve us seaweed. It was just green goo and did even sport the fortitude of tasting like the grass that horses eat.

DO not get me wrong, I have developed a taste for certain kinds of seaweed, prepared with butter or fat and topped with vinegar or beer. NOthing as awesome as a good pot of fresh greens from the garden, but supposedly loaded with micro-nutrients that are not available from any fare found on land.

My question; did any of you ever teach her anything?
