I got a cuddle from my favourite villager. Who then gloated of being shopping for bread while holding a young gal in his arms.

Indeed.  I think it is more likely 'couples' who need reminding they are not single anymore.

I take it this is a valentines thread from Genesis.

Valentines means nothing for me. I only get reminded that it exists, because I am online. And because some shops try to get the valentine tradition introduced in the Netherlands. In the bigger places it works, a bit. In my village no one cares. There are no extra red flowers in the supermarket. Just the same types of flowers as usual.

The times I got valentine gifts, I liked it a lot, because I knew it meant a great deal to the one sending them me. But it could just as well have been on January 14, or any other day, for  me.

Yesterday I made some Rye and Spelt bread for the first time.  I now wish I had thought of making it heart shaped.  I might have a go later.

Yesterday I made some Rye and Spelt bread for the first time.  I now wish I had thought of making it heart shaped.  I might have a go later.

How does it taste?

Is it a very compact bread?

We ate it still warm.  It tasted good but most bread does when fresh from the oven.  There was none left to taste cold. 

Yes it was not a 'light' bread, it was compact but very nice.

According to a quick search, the Netherlands produced 17 million kilograms of rye in 2002. Germany and Poland produced most of the EU's rye in 2012. Link 1 Link 2 If you can't find any at home, my suggestion is to ask a German. Perhaps Odeon can translate for you.

Last time I wanted rye flour, I bugged my baker, and he got it from his supplier.
