From the USA it looks pretty stupid and outrageous, because gypsy prejudice is nonexistent here. Oh noes, a black-haired couple has a blond-haired girl. And all over the EU, police are seizing random blond kids from their parents - one even had a birth certificate right there?? - on suspicion that they might be stolen? WTF?
In Scandinavia the gypsies were almost entirely destroyed (sent off to Germany) during ww2, and those that survived (we're talking "original" nordic gypsies) are now almost completely assimilated, as in, there's no way to tell a nordic gypsi from any other norwegian. There is still stigma to it, and they will keep their heritage a secret.
However, recently we are getting gypsies from the south, mainly Romania (although huge gypsi populations also exist in Slovakia, Hungary and Spain. Other countries too, but in less concentration compared to overall population)
So, in Norway gypsies (in the old fashioned, travelling sense) are sortof news to us, as we are being re-aquainted with them.
In Spain, it seems they are largely recognized as an integral part of the nation, and the source of lots of Spanish culture (flamenco music, etc)
Hungary has always scared me when it comes to humanism, idunno what it is with that country, but they have actual brown-shirt militias, training, arming themselves, etc, ready to genocide around, looking for whoever is weak enough to effortlessly massacre out.
Same thing is appearing in Greece.
The shit about this kind of fascist mentality is that bloodlust always comes first. Scapegoats are merely an excuse, and the victim chosen is
anybody that they can most get away with.
It's all about wanton bloodlust.
Study their rethorics, and their mannerisms, you'll see that the road from ideology to bloodbath is always rather short, with these people.
