Don't allow random websites 'clean' your computer. Microsoft used to have a good free registry error repair page, but it's gone now.

For REALLY resistant problems, those that just don't get fixed by tools for the purpose and are too persistent to kill off manually, darik's boot and nuke.

Bear in mind that this is a program that runs off a boot disk and without confirmation, sterilizes the hard drive with a multi-pass overwrite. It will delete EVERYTHING, not just the virus/malware.

Unsure if it will delete hypervisor-level rootkits though.

This should have gone into my computer corner. Never mind.

My computer has been freezing, especially when I load pages with .gifs or play videos. So Ceilidh updated the graphics drivers yesterday. Used my computer for about half an hour today, tried to post something on here and it froze. :D Oh, what to do?

It will probably keep doing the same thing since it was doing it regularly before the drivers were installed.

My theory is that it can't handle working hard. It just overheats way too fast. Its fans are inadequate. Plus I live in a very warm climate which doesn't help.

You could change your power settings (if it's a laptop) to maximize cooling. Have you cleaned it recently?

I haven't run a laptop without an external cooler since the IBM. I learned very fast with that one that it was almost a must with it.

Yeah, I know. Summer is coming! It has already been hot for a few days.
Changing power settings (it is a laptop) will see about doing when I restart the computer because I have to go into BIOS to modify the fan settings. What do you mean about cleaning? Physically? Because my computer is pretty clean (I rarely eat or drink when I am using it). Or do you mean a type of software?

Might have to get a cooling pad.
