I hate bike lanes and in general think they make things more dangerous a lot of times and it would be better if bikes should have to obey the same laws as other vehicles.  The big danger is that most of the time they are on the right shoulder which means they can legally overtake you on the right when you are going to make a right turn and bikes in general are not always easy to see, are quiet and can go very fast.

In my view, bikes are the same as pedestrian traffic. Bicycles are, after all, foot powered vehicles. They should follow the same rules as all pedestrian traffic.

I often see massive groups of bicycles stopped at a traffic light in a busy part of town, (It is legal here, FFS!!) blocking a dozen or more cars from using the street at speed limits. Then they take off, pedaling, and only a few of the cars get through, but all those biker bastards get through, even after the lights change.

I am  fan of biker lanes BUT I am NOT a fan of accepting bikes in car lanes. I say if there is no bike lane then the bikers should have to use the sidewalks and SHARE the pedestrian ways with other pedestrians, BUT MOSTLY STAY THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY OF CARS!!!!!

Car owners PAY taxes to build the roads with their registrations and massive taxes it costs to operate a car. Bikers get a free ride! No taxes, no registration, no licenses, no requirements to follow posted traffic laws, no restrictions whatsoever!!

Oh, BTW, I ride my bicycle almost every day on the roads, but I use the sidewalks when I can and I never get in the way of cars.

So you have an enforcement problem. I've heard that some municipal forces have a policy that they won't enforce certain laws unless someone complains. Talk to a local police officer and request that something be done.

The ones that I hate the most are the ones that act like they deserve to be respected as an equal with cars but only follow the traffic laws when it suits them.  One thing I have noticed kids on bikes are easier to deal with because they seem to watch out for cars better than the adults do and generally keep out of you way.
