My ex was a sack of shit who I hated, but it didn't stop it being a horrible thing to see happen to someone. he never stayed sober more than 2 months at a time.
He eventually ended up with pancreatitis and another drink will kill him.

Oh I plan too. I'm not giving up this accomplishment for anything, 
Alcoholism or any addiction is pure hell. I can only speak for being an alcoholic but damn did that have my entire being, Of course I loved being drunk and getting online, (That was my thing. ) but after 7 years of drinking almost every other day I started throwing up blood!

 

That for me was my turning point.

No. Just swap junk food for fruit. If you can grow to love fruit, you can binge all day, with no ill effects (exept explosive diahrea )

My mom got pancreatitis from drinking, which shot her pancreas and now she has type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent) with very fragile reactive blood sugars. When she complains about being sick I feel no pity for her at all because it is a direct result of her actions. She is in complete denial however and likes to imagine all her issues sprung out of bad luck and drinking has nothing to do with any of it.

pssh. She might wish to forget, but I will never forget.

If it wasn't for court order, I don't think she would have quit. And now, she might be drinking again....

Kudos to you Richard. WANTING to quit and doing it are such big steps and I truly admire you for it.
