I think it is fair to say The C of E have a fat pile of cash.  They are exempt from paying tax.  Not sure if this will change when they become involved in credit unions.

They do occupy space and air in The House of Lords.  Such a waste.  However they are not nearly as powerful as they once were.

I do not like them and want to see any power or influence they have removed.

This is the first time in my life time I have ever had cause to think  "good move".   Anyone who happens to fall on their arse in the UK get trampled on instead of helped.  Even energy companies act like vultures forcing people to have pre pay meters and then forcing them on the highest tariff possible.

So, this will be interesting....

blah blah blah

So if you default on a church loan do you automatically go to hell >:D

This is a really good thing. Companies like Wonga are evil.

As a small child, I was taught by my RE teacher that Christians were good, and that the way to be a good Christian, is to be a good person.
As I got older, I saw that the church was more interested in casting judgement on peoples sex lives and getting worked up about woman priests, than it was in making a positive contribution to the world.

Its about time that the church got its morals right.
I'll never believe in God, but if the church concentrated its moral fury on those who deserve it, I might at least view the church in a better light.

Yes.  Sorry i forget sometimes my posts should make sense to other people.

Basically there are many companies fleecing low paid people by offering to lend them money if they have been refused by the high street banks.

Interest on these loans can be upto five thousand percent APR.  They soon turn nasty if/when people struggle to repay.

The Church of England have declared war with these companies and are going to be offering loans at much fairer rates.  Hopefully they will put the sharks out of business.

The rest is just me amusing myself with some snide digs at our government and readers of The Daily Mail.   I was 'high' on a few temporary hours of freedom from the urchin.

Do you get it, now?  It's basically good news for people on low incomes who might need a quick loan.

Yes. Yes I do get it, after reading that, then looking into bit a bit myself. It seems he's giving things an honest effort. Good for him.
