Is she happy about that?

Is she happy about that?

She was happy.

She got to go out and play in the snow for two days and eat snow ice cream, then she got to go back to school on the day before Halloween and wear her Halloween costume.  She was WordGirl.  I even made a Captain Huggyface costume for the little monkey she got at the zoo:

That's adorable

How did you make it?  Did you knit the little jumper the monkey has?

I sewed it.  Both her costume and the monkey's costume were made of polar fleece, which has some stretch across the grain.

I covered a button with fleece for the monkey's belt buckle. I sewed the belt as a waist band for his shorts and left openings for his ears in the sides of his little hat and his tail in the back of his shorts.  The antenna was a straw from a juice box with a round bead glued on top.

I made my daughter's WordGirl costume as leggings and a long-sleeved shirt rather than making it as one piece, so it would be more comfortable to wear.

I bought a round metal belt buckle at the fabric store and covered it with yellow fleece and made her belt out of tangerine fleece.  I made the cape out of yellow fleece and lined it with tangerine fleece.  I made a hat for her.  I even made fleece spats to cover her snow boots we bought in London.  I tried making gloves to match the spats but they didn't turn out well, so I just bought red knit gloves for her to wear.

I need to learn to sew.  Crochet too actually.  Even though my knitting skills are still laughably basic as I haven't been able to afford good yarn lately :P

I can sew by hand, but I don't know how to use a sewing machine. Which is kind of backwards for me.

I used to know how to do it but now I struggle with it. It's on my bucket list of things to do and I'm not exactly sure why, but for some pointless reason I feel like it's a skill I have to master. Weird.

It's insanely windy here today. Not that cold though.

I know how to use a sewing machine, sort of.  We used one in Textiles in school to make drawstring bags and cushion covers.  Not sure if I would be able to properly use one without supervision though.
