What Operating System Do You Use?

I'm currently using the newest CrunchBang(#!). Waldorf I believe it is... (Debian-based)

It also has the best, friendliest Linux community I have ever witnessed. Not pissing contests and snobbery, but it's actually filled with genuine helpfulness.

It's fantastic so far, aside from one audio issue that was totally my fault. It's also rather speedy. What about everyone else? Any other Linux users out there? If so, what distro and why?

Win XP

I wish for a new computer, to play games on, but I dread the notion of having any of the later windows thrust upon me. I'm not dedicated enough to be selective about it, so I'm probably just gonna accept whatever windows version a new computer will come with, and just... suffer in relative silence :D

I am quite happy with XP.

My main laptop is Windows 7.  I have an old Toshiba running XP and an Android tablet.  The urchin also has a kiddies Android tablet.

I am quite happy with XP.

Depending on what kinds of games you want to play, I bet if you dual-booted with Crunchbang it could speed up your oldness and free up some power for gaming. I put it on an old Toshiba and it runs faster than when it was new (with Windows.)

Windows 7  I am not the computer techie type and it works most of the time okay without having to fuck with it

Debian Sid, on the server and on a couple of laptops, including my dual-boot work laptop (that also boots to Win7 when need be). There's also a Virtualbox running Windows on more than one computer.

OS X on the one I'm typing this on.

And I'm pretty sure I still have a laptop with Ubuntu installed. Plus, I have a huge server thingy that still runs some Solaris variant if I boot it up, but it's too noisy so I tend not to.

I like OS X but it reminds me of Ubuntu sometimes. The kind of OS that wants to do everything for you, the kind that sort of dumbs you down.

But OS X is clever because the user-friendliness mostly surpasses the alternatives. IMHO, something like Debian is a better OS but nowhere near as easy to use, regardless of your previous experience.

Sounds like a lovely setup you've got going. Why, pray tell, do you ever have the need to boot into Win 7?  Have you found a legitimate lack of functionality or one of those... 'it's easier to dual-boot because I can get the functionality I need without going through fifteeen other steps' moments? Or something else?
