Should vaccinations for children be compulsory?
« on: April 19, 2013, 03:49:30 AM »
I'm talking about measles specifically although i guess all diseases really.

10 years ago in the UK there were 70 cases of measles per anum.  Last year there was 2000.   Someone called 'Wakefield' scared a lot of parents with his suggestion that the MMR  jab (mumps, measles, rubella.) was linked to Autism.

I have just seen a political debate about making vaccinations compulsory.  What do you think?

Should children be vaccinated, yes, should it be required, no.

The parent may prefer alternative medicine or simply object on other grounds, and I say let them choose. However, the link to autism is total bullshit.

In the US, pediatric vaccinations are not mandatory, but the methods used to get parents to vaccinate their children are nothing short of extortion.

If you don't vaccinate your child, they cannot go to school.

Furthermore, if you refuse to vaccinate your child, more than a few jurisdictions will take you to court in order to relieve you of custody.

Yes. Allow stupid parents the ability to take the choice out of their empty heads

Personally i think that every parent who had a child with Measels should be interviewed by police and asked why they neglected to protect their child and put them at risk, and not to have them defend their actions with 'I thought I knew better".

You shouldn't be arrested or fined if you choose not to vaccinate your kids.
But if you want your kid to go to state funded schooling, then yes, you should have to provide records of vaccination.
Misunderstood.

I wouldn't let the urchin have the MMR jab.   I asked my doctor for the separate injections.  He said it wasn't available on nhs.
So i had Measles and Mumps done privately and i didn't get the rubella.

Why?   He had earlier vaccinations and they made him really poorly.  I found out there were about six or seven different things in each injection.

Now,  i am sorry but i have to question why in the world would anybody want to pump lots of different vaccinations into a tiny little being in one go.  I vowed not to let it happen again. So i had measles  injection one month and mumps the next.  Cost was about £150 each.

The only reason you can't get them singularly on the nhs is cost.  They deliver the goods as cheaply as possible.

That's my thoughts also.

When I was in collage there was a measles scare and everyone had to provide their paperwork before being allowed back in class, mine was lost and I had to get the shots again

This. I also had them spaced apart like bodie, because I think injecting a little kid with 5 different things at once, and shipping them out the door is bullshit. My kid is not a pincushion.

I also requested the injected polio and NOT the oral, which they later pulled from use here in 2000 anyway I believe. The oral is "live" and poses more risks.

Yes, they should

Some kids cant have the jab, for example kids with leukemia. You're putting THEM at a huge risk by not immunising your own child.

If vaccinations are acceptable then yes do it, if you're too stupid to not take it because of what Wakefield and that whore Jenny McCarthy says, then you deserve a big "Fuck You!" from the community you live in.

If its U.S.A., UK, OZ, or New Zealand or Canada.

Yes. Children should receive modern medical care. If people life in a modern country, and refuse modern medical care for their children for any reason, it should be reported and investigated.

Being of the older generation, I did receive 2 vaccinations as a child before I had a reaction to them.  I did not complete the polio vaccine until the PR had her shots.  My sister had no vaccinations because of my reaction.  Interenstingly enough when she was bitten by a neighbor's dog she had the rabies vaccine although she had to stop before the series was completed because of a reaction.

I have had measles, mumps, chicken pox, whooping cough and the flu.  Fortunately not at the same time, although I do know someone who had measles and chicken pox at the same time.  I'll take vaccinations every time.  I'm up to date on flu, shingles and diptheria.

The PR has had all her shots at the right time.  I don't think any vaccine contributed to her conditions because she was different from birth.

I mentioned theriac in another thread, the Greek-Roman medicine, whose main ingredients were opium and viper flesh. The viper flesh actually worked as an antidote against snake bites. Roman physicians treated hens with theriac. Then they let vipers bite them. They survived. A test group that had not eaten theriac died.

I think they should be as some parents can be real idiots who don't understand how important they are.
