And, on diet food after this, because he may be prone to get them. You got him there in time, for cats not being able to pee can be lethally toxic very soon.

I think they said it was a urinary tract  infection. His penis was inflamed. Poor little guy. I change his water constantly and yes he is on a diet now. My poor baby.

Mom used to have a cat with this recurring problem, and the vet said it's common in cats and drinking more water will help. Cats are likely to drink more if they have running water available rather than a stagnant bowl, so he suggested a fountain cat bowl. Just something to consider.

Though it's hard to know how an animal will react to something new in their environment, so having both available in the beginning is probably a good idea.

Processed food of any kind is bad for pussy cats. They naturally eat whole animals and that includes bone and offal. In the old days butchers would sell pet meat, the tough bits people don't like. Dogs and cats who ate that were much healthier than today's pets who eat processed nastiness.
