I love mass debates. I get to see things from several viewpoints that might not have occured to me before. Even if I don't know much on the subject I watch and learn from the sidelines. I only love good debates though. A good debate tries to avoid personal insults, and it's not about getting the last word in but learning from what each side has to offer. A good debate in my opinion also doesn't go on in a neverending cycle because nobody wants to listen what the other has to say. If by say page three of a debate on a forum and it's pretty much a regurgitation of previous points, it's dead. If someone starts a debate with a simple sentece, that person isn't willing to put any effort into it, and the debate is already screwed. On Adultswim they have a section called rants, and it's pretty much nothing but debates. It's a lot of fun, but for periods of time when new shows start, a lot of newbies join and it gets filled wth rap is crap threads and emo bashers.
