Make sure the tat is for and about you and not the ex, though.  Otherwise it will remind you of the ex forever, instead of being a good memory.

Oh absolutely. I've known what I've wanted for a long time. One is a broken heart stitched back together (nothing to do with the ex actually) and a friend of mine that I've known over 30 years is going to design it. Her work is amazing. The other is a butterfly that has to do with a pendant that my sister gave me that has a lot of meaning. Very simple but I like it.

  I've also heard that tongue studs can crack teeth!  And any piercing that could interfere
   with my enjoyment of food       would not be welcome in or on my body!

They can wear away enamel and gums inside your mouth, anyway, I think.
