I thought erector sets were standard issue for guys.   :dick:

I never had an erector set.  Had Lincoln Logs, a Chemistry set and a Lionel train set.  I think Dad wanted a boy.

Well, the 'erector set' sure seemed more like a 'boy' toy than a 'girl' one, tbh!

It is far better for people to hate you for doing the right thing than for people to love you for doing the wrong thing. Never ever forget that.

The Erector Set does sound dirty but when you are a kid you won't think of a erected penis.

Super Mario Bros. 3

She said "computer" games, not "console" games. Unless you count playing on an emulator. Or consider an NES a "computer", which would be technically true. But still...

Kids chemistry sets suck. They come with no interesting chemicals, and the test tubes are often plastic. Borosilicate glass test tubes and a couple of round bottom flasks ain't too much to ask surely.

A kid at my school managed to blow his chemistry set up, fairly impressively, though! Can't say I was that into it, myself; I preferred the magnets play set, for instance. (Which definitely doesn't count as computer games, btw!) lols

Still..I prefer my own. Although it cost a lot more than a kids one, I dread to think on how much I've spent over the years on glassware and reagents. Certainly a few grand must have gone into everything I've got.

Stuff like platinum, or palladium based catalysts drives the price through the fucking roof. And silver based reagents cost a fair bit too. Although its often cheaper to buy silver metal and make them from scratch. Certainly it costs a lot less for silver nitrate if one buys silver metal as coins or bullion, and uses drain cleaner sulfuric acid&cheap ammonium nitrate from inside a cold pack, or stump remover potassium nitrate. and just melts in the silver yourself, rather than pay some 15-20 per gram or two for AgNO3.

And every day I get paid, I buy more glassware and reagents, and make it better.

I need to start saving, as I want to buy a secondhand UV-vis spectrophotometer, or maybe an IR one. Cost a few hundred at the cheapest, coming from fleabay, but where there is a will there is a way (or hopefully, a rich dead relative), lol.
