Odd things you used to think
« on: February 17, 2012, 07:44:05 AM »
I used to think that bands and artists were playing live at the studio when I heard them on the radio.
I used to think that school teachers lived at school.
I used to think "veterans" was another way of saying "veterinarians".
I used to think that if something was "priceless" that meant it was free.
When I was growing up I had to go to church and the priest always used to offer "Christ's body". I thought it was strange that they weren't running out after nearly 2000 years.
I used to think motorbike riders were allowed to go faster than the rest of the traffic.
I used to think that because powdered coffee smelt nice, a spoonful of it would taste nice too.
I used to think that other people could tell what I was thinking.

Yeah I thought some strange stuff.

I knew people would pick different brands than other people. But, somehow I thought that if someone used X for the dishes, like we did at home, that they would make all their other choices the same as made by us at home too.

I've found the differences in that mind boggling, for years and years.

when i was in preschool (age 4) i asked my mom if my teacher lived at school and she laughed at me :(

and i used to think people could read my thoughts too until i was like 11 years old and all of a sudden thought i was being silly

oh, and when i was a kid i thought women only ever had one orgasm in their entire life because i looked it up in the dictionary and it said "the sexual peak of a woman" So i thought it only happened once :D I remember thinking i was going to make mine really really special :D

I thought that the teachers lived in the schools, too.

Also, not only did I think that the past was in black and white, but sped up, too. :autism:

I thought alacrity meant "slowly."  When I found out what it meant those sex manuals began to make sense.

I thought everyone was hypersensitive to touch and could not understand why anyone would touch me since it hurt.

And I remember thinking that once I grew up and became an adult I would understand everything others did. I thought so until well into my twenties and still feel that sometimes.

I thought that people could read my mind, too.

Thank you Odeon for sharing that.  I never realized that may be why my sister was not the touchy, feely type.  She and I are pretty much opposites, and she understood a lot more about social interaction than I did/do.  Maybe she has autistic tendencies also, since it seems to be in our Mom's family.

I thought everyone was different, as much different as I was. I never realised that others could rely on something as vague as a theory of mind.

Took me till a few years ago, to realise there are things in which most people are said to be not as different as I am.

That I lived in a normal family and everyone was like us.
All animals loved me and wanted to be petted
