I have a doctor's appointment, or rather a surgeon's appointment. They're going to do something called an arthrocentesis, which means they are going to wash out my right jaw joint's synovial cavity. Apparently they'll give me meds that help me forget the whole thing afterwards, which is a good thing.
if they give you what they gave me for my upper endoscopy you really will remember nothing. i knew it would happen so i hid a voice recorder on me. when i woke up i had a sore throat and they told me don't worry about it but on the recording i heard them having trouble getting me to swallow the tube. i still have no memory of it. the meds wore off in about 45 minutes after i woke up and they let me leave then; they would have kept me longer without someone to take me home.
My daughter at age 4 got that stuff too when they placed tubes in her eardrums. She reacted different from the other kids. So, she did not forget the beginning of the whole procedure, but when it was over, she kept forgetting it was all done.
She still can describe in detail what the anesthesiologist looked like.
Was weird, when she was out of the operating room and awake, she got an ice lolly. She knew she'd get one after the procedure. But she kept asking why she had it already, because the procedure was not over yet. Took a while before she was back in the now.
