Right now, if anyone were to post a joke about "retards" I'd do 17 different kinds of unspeakable horrors to them.  Being retarded is no "funny" for the person or their parents.

I agree with V about the holocaust jokes

they're just not funny at all, and anne frankly I think they're wrong

I think we SHOULD make jokes about hitler personally. think what he'd say if he heard them himself :laugh: ...he would definitely not want to have ended up a figure of ridicule. and if we do the opposite, we risk turning him into a voldemort type character, which is dangerous. He-who-must-not-be-named :M

Holocaust jokes... I do think they are definitely distasteful tbh. I couldn't resist that one though, just in response to your post. I wouldn't usually make holocaust jokes, but maybe because I've studied it a lot and feel very strongly about holocaust denial etc.

Anyway, I think anything should be fair in GENERAL

but I do think it's crossing the line when people use individual examples. Like I don't like jokes about madeiline mccann, although in a sick way those kind of jokes can be funny really. It's more about the context tho really. If someone on here had just had a relative murdered with an axe, it would be wrong to joke about axe-murderers. Jokes about axe murderers are obviously not wrong in general tho

I am with you on this. I was friends with people from the special ed class at school and they used to get picked on so much, it used to make me mad.

I don't like too many jokes about mental illness, especially about self-harm, depression and suicide. As Adam said, it depends on the context, e.g., I make jokes about the memory I lost from ECT but I wouldn't joke about someone else's memory lost from that.

This: :autism: was kind of a joke I made (the code not the smiley itself) that I thought some might be offended by but it seems people are ok with it. Maybe because the majority of us are autistic? Are autism jokes appropriate here? I have seen some AS/autism pictures that are meant to be funny.
