Thought Processes
« on: October 30, 2011, 08:15:23 PM »
As I see it, there are at least 2 ways of thinking (i.e. arriving at an answer)

A -> B -> C-> D.

A -> B -> 17 -> Red -> cow -> (random word) -> 23 -> D.

The first is linear.  The second is random and free-wheeling.  Both methods can take the same amount of time or one can be faster.

Which type of thinker do you feel you are?

BTW, I am a random thinker and PA is a linear thinker.

 I am random, my brother is much more linear and methodical.  :chin:

I know my mother was linear, my father I think was more random.  My sister is linear.

I'm linear. I can be random with great effort.  :P
You'll never self-actualize the subconscious canopy of stardust with that attitude.

No doubt linear. Every now and then it's circular, but try to avoid such things.

Associative or linear depending on the application.

Since you worked as an accountant professionally I would guess probably not. Math is hard science unlike sociology or philosophy.

Although I was an accountant I was lousy at it.  It was only through the hardest (on me) that I succeeded in doing it for 25 years before I literally crashed and burned and had to retire or get fired.  I retired so I could keep my health insurance at a reasonable cost.  Took a major hit with the pension, but if I watch the pennies and nickels we don't make out too badly.

Definitely free-wheeling for me unless I'm very focus or obsessed about something. It's funny how random bits of information link together and pretty much cause a exponential recall of information until my mind refocus on something specific and repeats the cycle until it gets exhausted or I concentrate to refocus it. If it runs out of control it gives me an anxiety attack. I describe it more like a web-based thinking with random and linear channels, it's impossible to just recall one piece of information without exciting parts of the web, if that makes any sense.

That's how I remember things so well, even if I forget something, I usually can randomly recall unrelated fragment memories by simply wondering what I forgot. Usually a unrelated memory finds itself linked to the information I truly want and voila, I recalled it. I also use it for analysis as it allows me to notice particular patterns in real life. However like I said, it sparks my anxiety/paranoia if it goes too far though.
Existence actually has two broad meanings despite its apparent meaningless. The constant reconciliation of all its parts, and the conservation of any closed system as a whole.

Morality can be extrapolated from these meanings to make these two commandments of godless morality: 1). Be in harmony with one another and 2). Care for the environment.

I'm more linear with caffeine and dexamphetamine, more random without or when I'm tired or having an episode of paralysis.

Thoughts aren't really random. It's linear vs lateral. Lateral thinkers are more the creative type.
