Thanks for looking at link Hyke.  They said they got fewer and fewer requests for girls so they eventually made use of the empty girls facilities.  They have a 'sister school' that is mixed and about 5 miles away.

My impression was  OMG  OMFG sixty urchin's  (wonders what is the collective noun for urchins)   I think the urchin has gotten used to being the odd one out,  the naughty boy, the only one who ends up in the headmasters office,  the one in trouble for running in the corridor,  the one who is always in trouble for not using his 'classroom voice'  -  well here is not going to be the odd one out.  They all struggle with behaviour.  Some have autism, adhd etc and some don't have a dx.   

The boys seemed really happy.  They are taught in groups of eight and banded together due to ability rather than age. There are three staff to every group of eight.  I think he will cope with this.  Lack of girls and bell ringing on pigtails should help him also.

I noticed school encouraged contact with parents for kids that stay overnight. That's a good thing imo. A school that is the right place for your kid will so change the life of your kid, and of yourself for the better.

I was given a guided tour by the Parent Liason Advisor who is employed by them full time.  She was lovely, spent an hour and a half with me.  She said it was important that we share strategies so that what goes on at school is similar to home.  She keeps regular contact and was saying every kid is so different that they keep an open mind and if there is something we do at home that works or helps then they will do same.  I noticed she had a good rapore with the kids.  They all acknowledged her by her first name.  One kid came up and high fived us both.  She said reesults are usually much better if home and school work together.  Not always possible as some aren't interested and some kids are with foster carers.   She had also been to see the urchin in his current setting and she thinks they can do better.

I didn't really speak to the teachers.  I just went round the classrooms with her observing the lessons.  All the teachers were engrossed in what they were doing and only briefly stopped to say hi.  That big long list of staff is another reason i want him to go there.  Half of them are male.  Unusual as usually females dominate teaching in that age group.  I think it is just what the urchin needs.  His Dad is very calm and laid back and the urchin needs more male role models i think.  On the way back to the office i observed the deputy head calming down one of the younger ones who was crying and had kicked the chair.  I heard him say to the boy  "I can assure you that nothing, and i mean nothing that you have done is so terrible or so bad that we can't talk about it"  I liked this.

Cup of tea, two kaiserbrötchen, blahiah.. but but.. I also cleaned all the windows downstairs and did a (clothes) laundry. Was thinking of buying a cordless drill/screw machine this afternoon, there was a Makita on sale, but found out (via teh netz) the thing don't have Li-ion batteries but Ni-Cd ones.. and ja, decided to wait a bit.
