I did what I said I would not do this week.....
Yesterday I warped my loom again. And made a start with a free weaving project, using my first spun, not too neat, wool.
Today I did some more on that.
It is funny to notice the differences in how weaving is satisfying. Working on a strict pattern, thought up oneself is great, seeing how the pattern becomes cloth, just the way it should. It has a satisfaction that has to do with the productiveness.
Now I'm doing some free weaving. The end result will probably be a rug for the cats to sleep on. Got a vague idea in my head what shapes there will be. For the rest, it is finding a balance between rhythm and chaos. It is great fun. The satisfaction is not there in reaching what I aimed for, but in doing what I am doing, and seeing how that pans out is a bonus on top of it.
Do wonder how it will hold in the first rough washing though. The wool is from different sheep, and may shrink or not shrink in very different ways.
I like both things, they are very different.
