I have a friend who is totally emotional. She thinks in emotions. Can be very upset when she hears about a tragic death, even of people she does not know. It's not fake, emotions come first with her. She thinks in emotions first.
Her coping strategies are completely different from mine. But for both of us it can lead to being a doormat, if we don't watch ourselves. Sometimes I can bring logic in her emotional chaos, sometimes she makes me wonder about my needs.
It's a weird friendship. We're both on an other side of 'normal'. But it works. Took me years and years to let her and her husband come that close that I could consider them friends. Both as a couple and as individuals. But I did and am glad that I did.

Read a not to good interview (journalist asking crappy questions) with Paul Moyaert. He's looking at schizophrenia from a philosophical and psychological point of view. He's looking for the health within the patient. There is more to a client than catastrophe alone. That's in crisis, but the schizophrenia is part of that person outside crisis too. And looking at how that works could be healing.

As I said, crappy interviewer. So not sure my interpretation is correct here. It was enough to make me curious about his philosophical essay on madness.

And I liked the idea of the self healing.

Have been thinking for a long time that lots of psychological 'defects' are self helping strategies. It's when the strategies remain when the reason is gone, or the strategies get a 'life' on there own, holding a person back, that it can become a problem.

Not true for all things of course. But often is imo. And it can come with damaging 'side-effects'. But same is true for medication.

At best a therapist would have the guts to really listen to the client and to find out why some things are helpful, even when seen as very bad.

Not great. :(

What's wrong?  Physical problem, or bad state of mind?  :(

Not something that is easily helped, I'm afraid. It's one of those weeks.
