We were advised recently to take down all our bird feeders, because of the Avian Flu that has already shut down a number of turkey and D U C K farms in the areas north.
They suggested that taking down bird feeders will help the birds to "socially distance" themselves and keep the flu from spreading further.
Can you even imagine the assinine stupidity of these people offering up something like that as a public service warning? When you get done laughing, you almost want to cry.

Foraging birds clump together. That's how it works best for them.
Taking the food away that many have come to depend upon, conceeding to life near humans, will only do more harm! Quite like many other ".gov" ideas they try to implement.

I keep my feeders topped up. Squirrels like the seeds, too, and they are welcome here. I feed both.
I've seen people shoot squirrels because they were messing up their bird feeders. Squirrels gotta eat, too! They are a part of the environment. You can not choose your environment. You can adapt to it. That's about all there is.
Don't like squirrels, then fuck off some place else.
