Agreed, the stuff they used on me stung as well. Then the slit-lamp exam, which was REALLY not fun. Shitty beyond shitty to begin with, but shittier still after the application of the mydriatic eye drops. What was almost as nasty was I had to use the damnable stuff twice a day, every day, to avoid further damage to the cornea IIRC. I had to wear an eye-patch even at night, and couldn't see straight more than a few inches in front of my face. And having already light-sensitive eyes having the cornea scorched with boiling hot corrosive nastiness makes your eye/s sensitive to light like you wouldn't bloody believe. Massive dilation of the pupil AFTER that....there really aren't words that are vulgar enough in any language I know, or indeed all of them, to describe how much that hurts.

I went to my friend's place to do homework after she said I could use her tablet. She doesn't know her WiFi password so I couldn't take my computer over there and I needed the internet. She really wanted me to go there so I caved and went there. I ended up using Open Office which I think is shitty but I persevered. I had had enough by 5:30pm so I went home. Checked my work on my computer - none of the work I did at her house saved even though I saved it. I could cry because I did a fair bit of work. I will do it tomorrow, my brain is fried for today.

Oh no.  :( That's awful when that happens, it's happened to lots of people. Completely useless technology.

PA had a cornea transplant and later on a corneal cell transplant.  He had to have several follow-up procedures to the cell transplant.  I went with him to his last visit.

Lay flat on a medical table, stare straight into an insanely bright light.  Have the doctor insert a large needle into the eye so sterilized air can be inserted behind the cell transplant to adhere it to the back of the cornea.  Do it again and again and again since you have to have the air bubble in the right place for adhesion to work. Continue laying on the table for one hour.

A)  PA had an aversion to anything near his eye.
B)  The light made his eye water.
C)  PA had a bad back and couldn't lay on it without some pain.

My admiration for him went up after seeing him go through this.
