half an oz of meth, stubbornly oiling out on gassing the nonpolar phase. Still, in a pretty good mood, after doing some of the liquid HCl salt, after scrubbing excess HCl with a little bicarbonate.

Travelling today. Don't wanna.

More research is needed to build a Star Trek-style transporter. :M

See if you can get a scholarship to the Swedish Hogwarts.

I thought they dabbled in other stuff. :-\

Well its just above a half oz actually, since the cook was based on 15g pseudo. Would have done 60-70 but for experimenting with novel reduction techniques.
Actually it pays to do at least an oz at a time generally, nanos are a real pain in the ass, mechanical losses, and workup is a nuisance.

Think I'll finish most of the workup stuff tomorrow though, gods, I'm fucking bushed, been working since 12 in the morning and JUST got mostly finished.

I heard there was a TV show about making meth.  I think you can still watch it. :heisenberg:

Will take a while now before I can watch it now sweetie, damn laptop screen is buggered, need to get it repaired.  So cooking, rather than watching cooking is much more practical.

Just begged a short while on another computer to get online, check for a quote from my reagent supplier of choice, and post on one of the clanchem forums for some tips dealing with my oiling out problem. I think I've got it licked though now. Just need to rebase everything, wash the nonpolar phase with water whilst the goods are in the freebase state, then either gas with dry hydrogen chloride, or a technique lestat likes, when crystallizing products from post rxn mother liquor, is to take up in a nonpolar solvent of choice as suitable for whatever is being prepared, washing with water several times, separate NP fraction, drying this with anhydrous magnesium sulfate (baked epsom salts), leaving for a while to dry, then decanting off the solvent layer and adding a solution of HCl gas in a solvent that won't dissolve the HCl salt of whatever is being made, like diethyl ether, rather than directly introducing the HCl as a gas, doing so with a solution of HCl allows a lower concentration of HCl at any one spot, and very intimate mixing, usually crashing crystals right out of there, it helps avoid browning, byproduct formation sometimes depending on whats being made.

Mine is cured. I used to have a restless leg, dancing around to no avail.

Sorry, some things just can not be allowed to go unsaid.

I actually do have a large degree of empathy for restless legs syndrome. I have a small tendency, but my wife is a proper sufferer, as am I by association. CAn not begin to count the number of times I have been kneed in the balls while sound asleep and had to just abandon the bedroom.

RLS blows. Used to have it.

What works best for me is a combination of the muscle relaxer tizanidine and the dopamine agonist pramipexole. Well, opioids are the most effective of anything I've ever tried but are only worth trying as a solution if the RLS is intermittent.

Granted some of his other meds work just as well, in combination, as he already takes gabapentin for neuropathic pain due to nerve damage affecting lower leg, clonidine to prevent overloads and the sedative-hypnotic chlormethiazole for seizure control (acts like a barbiturate, minus the AMPAr antagonism of the barbs), that helps put me to sleep and keep me there to boot, although the main purpose of taking it is for seizure control. Just had it increased from 2x to 3x daily, as I was having a minor problem, that being seizures on waking, because it wears off moderately quickly. Although since having the dose increase its been happening still only much more mildly and less often.

I have a 7-hour flight ahead of me, followed by a few hours at Heathrow and a one-hour tube ride. I'm tired already.

I occasionally get RLS, usually if I've not been able to fall asleep when I'm past the point of tired.  A royal pain in the legs it is.

Have you tried magnesium for it when it plays up? the sulfate (epsom salts) can be made done with at a pinch, but MgSO4 is not particularly bioavailable, and is also an osmotic laxative in higher doses so don't take huge quantities. Better are chelates with aminoacids (health food salts), magnesium ascorbate (vitamin C salt) or citrate work better also, especially the ascorbate. This can be prepared by mixing vitamin C (not ester-C, plain ol' vitamin C is what you want) with milk of magnesia, Mg(OH)2 until slightly acidic to blue litmus paper (turns red) or since the acid being used is food quality anyway, a simple taste test will do, until its slightly tangy from the vitamin C (ascorbic acid) to taste.

Another even more effective way to deal with it over the counter is dextromethorphan, the cough syrup ingredient in benylin and robitussin dry cough. This is a much more powerful and direct NMDA antagonist than the magnesium cation and a large shot of the stuff should do the trick. Be aware that its got weak SSRI properties.
