Point your nose towards females.. is what I do. And, make sure no other male can fertilize your precious lady.

Male flowers, female flowers, plenty of plants have them.

Some plants only have female flowers or male flowers, with cannabis that often is the case, though there are cannabis plants that have both female and male flowers too. You don't want sex to happen if you grow the plant for its elevating effect. And since the female plant produces better than the male, you kill the male plants. 

Pumpkins have male and female flowers too. You do want pumpkinflowers to have sex, if you grow the plant to make you nice pumkins. With pumpkins it is not rare that people help the plant out to have effective sex.
