Lestat lives in Manchester I think.

Sorry for answering for him, just wanted to add some info about our education system.

Here in Australia, they made it so that if someone wanted to leave school after Year 10, they had to have an apprenticeship, traineeship, TAFE (college) or a job to go to. Otherwise, they have to stay at school and do Years 11 and 12.

Ah! doctoring the unemployent figures

I see no point in making a kid sit at desk, if you're not effectively teaching them.

Personally, I was too much of a Spazz to take proper advantage of my free education opportunities.  I was in a State Grammar School (shortly before they were were abolished , on that grounds that it wasn't fair to give intelligent kids any special  schooling; the lucky sods already had a natural advantage, didn't they?  Thereafter only rich kids were to have anything you could call an educational advantage, which, as everybody knows, is perfectly fair) . Anyways, I couldn't keep up, of course, so I had to have endless interviews with the Head, during which I was berated for "wasting my talents".

Nowadays, I consider myself fortunate for being unable to keep up, and for being unable to do the socialising thing properly.  There's no option left but to become a free thinker, is there? It's pretty unpleasant being forced into being a free thinker, but it's a cool thing to be, once you get the hang of it :)

Was somewhat of the opposite for me. The schools really did not serve me well. The Kanner's one was more a dumping ground for people that wanted to put their kids somewhere of a vaguely basic educatory nature. I don't think the teachers were qualified in different subjects, in that we typically were assigned to a class with a teacher and stayed there for all subjects. Basic elementary math, writing/english was most of all we got there. Things that anyone could do. (well bar the math, at least not with my near enough acalculia) and when I got transferred to the aspie-centric one. I got shafted in that I was not permitted to do the high-tier papers for physics, bio and chem. Rubbed it in their faces big time when I owned all three. But I COULDN'T get more than a 'C' grade. a C grade would be the best available even with 100% correct answers. I know damn well I'd have got an A grade or better if only the school DID those papers. FFS I ate the bastards alive in all three cases.

I've been angry about that ever since. Wouldn't mind looking into courses like you spoke of, Ren. Once I get the memory issue sorted out by chemical means (hell could use THAT as a presentation even, since I already KNOW a good deal about the biology of long-term potentiation at the electrophysiological level, plus various isoforms of AMPA and NMDA type ionotropic glutamate receptors and their functions. Would have to seriously bone up on the third kind, kainate receptors though. And how the former two especially, interact with nootropics.)

Carla and Amber are on their way home from Puerto Rico.  Then a bus trip to the city near me from Logan where I can pick them up!   8)

Welcome home to your two favorite people.  :)

Just figured out the way to stop my self-destructive grudge-holding and self-pity.
I give other people way too much power over my self-esteem.  It's as if I need them to validate
my feelings, and if they don't, I have to feel ashamed of myself in their presence.  Well, fuck that.
Anyone who insults me is a rude fucking bitch and it doesn't matter if s/he dismisses my
hurt feelings.  I will be 100% pro-ME no matter whether anyone else in the world agrees with me.
By having total compassion for myself, I will be able to extend some understanding to the assholes
around me, because they have no power or authority to decide my worth.  So, I rule.  :M

Not quite a secret. I know it. I'm not about to publicly post it without the weeble's say so though.

I know it through my former housemate, aka The Bitch.  borderline bitch from hell, the devil's own, and couldn't keep her fucking mouth shut if given a superglue sandwich.

Welcome home to your two favorite people.  :)

Yep, after a 40 minute delay of the plane coming in from Orlando Florida.  (Severe storm)  They left San Juan Puerto Rico, got to Logan and snagged the airport direct bus to Dover NH.  I picked them up around 10ish.  They are happy they went, but, glad to be home.   8)
