I didn't get a painkiller, nor was I told I needed one. It felt like a bad stomach ache. Sharp pains. I didn't like it.

The worst was the Picolax. I didn't eat for about 24 hours or even after the procedure.

I'm going to be knocked out for mine.  No way I'm going through that while awake.  :hide:

I didn't like it, but it honestly wasn't that bad. I mean, you would get sharp pains when they turned a corner, it wasn't constant. It would feel normal, then every now and then, "Oww". The procedure didn't last that long.

But honestly, the worst part was the Picolax. It is nasty stuff. My symptoms lasted about three times longer than they said it would, until the following morning when I had to leave for the appointment. I was in a panic.

Thinking about it, the Picolax was for something else. I think I just used suppositories for the colonoscopy. I don't know why it's so hard for me to remember. I think I wasn't allowed to eat jelly (jello) for some reason when I took the Picolax.

I've heard of people being told not to eat red jello before procedures like this.
Apparently red dye screws up the test, maybe makes the inside of the colon harder to see?  :apondering:

Makes sense. Whenever jelly is made up here, it's usually red.

Yes, you can drink yellow or green gatorade, apple juice and such.  Nothing red or purple in color.  Lime jello is ok.  Hard candy without the coloring I mentioned.   I also had to take Bisacodyl tablets (a laxative) twice at certain intervals.  The worst was getting up at 1:30 am to drink the remaining miralax and gatorade solution.  Then not being able to sleep because of the running to the bathroom.  The pain was minimal, some discomfort as the CO2 used to inflate the colon for observation would build up and then fart out.  My butt is still sore from all the wiping.

 I totally forgot about the farting bit. What's wrong with me??!

When it was finished, it sounded like air going out rather than a fart sound, I was glad.

Actually it's kind of cool. You should be watching the screen.

The doctor did say he used to tell his daughter he encourages people to fart in his work. The daughter apparently found this to be hilarious.
