One of my green Tourmalines is either Chrome (which is misleading, as vanadium is more than likely the color agent) Or Copper bearing. And if so, I just hit the jackpot!

How big a jackpot are you talking about?  If it's really big, remember how much you love all of us!   :2thumbsup:

My life has been too comfortable for several years now.
Time to take away the comfort.
Time for passion and drive to return.

How do you plan to do this?  What goals do you have in mind?  :orly:

But you already work.  Are you planning to get a second job?  Is that why you now call yourself McWorker?  :orly:

Well. regular tourmaline sells for about (if its good) $40-110 dollars for a nice 4-5 cter. If however you have a Tourmaline that is "Chrome" that same stone is a couple thousand dollars leaning heavily 'twords 6k

I'm seriously considering not going to birthday parties at my sister's place any more. I'm starting to hate those parties more and more so. Generally I try not to use my hyperacusis as an excuse but their living room is like total hell for me when it's crowded with people. The amount of noise of folks chit chatting loudly (in order to be heard over the other voices talking) is undoable to take for me. I'm not a very talkative person normally but that room makes go almost completely silent.

On the one hand.. ja, I really want to quit going there when others are invited also.. for ja, read above, I frikkin' hate it there.. but on the other hand.. these are birthdays of young kiddos. Me not showing up at theirs, which I have done before, doesn't feel right. I love them.. and they love me too.. and uncles should go to b.d. parties of the children of their sister (-s/brother(-s)), right?

Mentioned this to my mother this afternoon (at my nephew's party/he turned 10 years old) and she said; 'do it for the kiddos, C.' 'Just do it for them.' Mmmm, this is becoming, more and more so, a dilemma.

I don't want to be the uncle that these (three) kids only quite rarely see and, he who, never visit their birthday parties any more. There's almost no middle ground to tread here, is there? Think I should talk to my sister about this, soon.

^ I hate  rooms full of people too.

In your shoes i  would make a brief appearance and make sure to  make a B line for the birthday kid.  I would offer to take them to the park the next day or day after  to get some 'quality' time together.  I don't think you should fuss too much about what the adults think, as long as you and the kid are kushdie.

You sound like a really cool uncle.

:agreed:    Also, try wearing foam earplugs!  They are soft, comfortable and can be shaped to fit!
I wore them to a loud concert and actually took them out because they muffled the sound so much.

In reply to Bodie, this.... sorry CBC, not ignoring you but doubly replying (in one post) fucks my posts up beyond.. something.

~

Don't mind much what other adults think, no (that could be basically the core bugger of my deviation, I sometimes think).. but my sister's opinion I value and my nephew and nieces (not expressed, btw) also.

Your pro-tip is a good one (short appearance/compensating it with fun time with them/outside of the birthday party scenario) and in a way I'm doing that already. Well, not that often. Should do that more often so, I'm thinking now.

Um, longer Summertime's holiday is about to start here.. could invited birthday boy J. to go fishing with me soon. Or do something else outdoors together. He's afraid of quite a few animals (so unnecessarily so) and that might help (me lacking that almost completely) him a tadski, maybe/like indirectly, too.

Yes, thank you, Bodie.. that's a good way to go.. and I think I can be a cool uncle, indeed.

If i were your sister i would be totally fine about it.  Summer holidays are long and knowing that you will be taking the kid fishing will probably be more than welcome.
