Oh my....
That was one mighty fine breakfast I just had. Took a bit more effort than a bowl of cereal, or what I have been doing lately-slicing up a pound or so of blue stilton cheese, crackers, and eating.
Just fried up a big panful of mixed shiitake mushrooms and hedgehog fungi, served as the accompaniment to 4 big slices of braising steak, marinated in a mixture of 'devils' hot brown sauce, tabasco habanero sauce, soy, worcestershire and soy sauce, along with some fresh ground pepper and sea salt, brushed with a bit of oil, then braised until chewy, but tender.
Served with ice-cold beer
God damn that was delish. Not sure what I'm going to have for tea, but I have more shiitake, some oysters, and hedgehog fungus, and some cubed lamb stewing braising steak.
Got some chanterelles too, not C.cibarius, but one of the smaller, narrower, more infundibulate-shaped Cantharellus spp. I forget the name of it. Looking forward to frying those up in butter with those lamb steak chunks, the remaining shiitake and hedgehogs.
That first lot were delish. I'm tired after all the beer that went into washing that fiery steak (just how it should be, seared on the outside and searing spicy hot). I think I might just go grab a pork pie from the fridge. I'm hungry as hell lately .
