Work also has MS office and I may need to email things to work to print stuff out. I don't know what version work has though

I don't know what version work has though Openoffice can do more or less anything that MS Office can do, and it can save files in multiple MS Office formats. I just checked, and Openoffice can convert documents to PDF.
