I keep thing about just how poorly built the prefabricated house I worked on today was and how can they get away with it, doesn't anyone inspect these things

A few years after we bought the house (1990 bought, built in 1963 or 64) we had to have a pipe replaced under the house.  Turned out the genius builder had put the pipe on top of a piling and poured cement over it for the foundation.  Who puts a pipe on top of a piling?

You would be amazed at the stuff I have seen.  The place today I was worried I was going to bring the ceiling down and the house was less than ten years old.  The trusses where all wrong and many of them cut or not fully connected properly.  I fear this place will one day have a roof collapse if it is ever under great strain.  I was only adding some extra insulation to level off what was there.

I have a friend who owns her own home, and the house is like some kind of twilight zone of repair issues.  Construction, plumbing, electric- you name it, it's fucked.  The house is really old, but it's awful for any age.  It's amazed every competent plumber or carpenter who's been in it.
