I really hate calling a company for service, in this case, to discontinue service...and get put in "holding hell."  This is a cable tv and internet service provider for us.  So finally I say "fuck it", put the equipment to be returned in the car and drive to the company HQ and get it done there.  total time 20-25 minutes to drive to and fro, speak to a clerk, hand over the equipment and get my receipt and leave.  I would probably have still been on hold for all that time.  I may be a peon/peasant, but, my time is valuable as well.

Why is two factor authentication considered so much more secure? Phones get stolen all the time and they only have four digit passcodes on them.

Because factor #2 requires you to steal the ohone in addition to hacking #1.

Ah, some of the things which keep trying to get me to set up two factor authentication will also easily forward a lost password reset link to your phone, or allow for a phone only authentication instead of typing in your password every time.

Facebook keeps wanting my mobile phone number, supposedly more secure. I'm not giving it to them.

Gave them mine. Not like I actually use the thing anyways.

I keep my phone number out of FB.  The people I am friends with either know my number or can ask me for it.

Same. My email host wants my mobile number too. Not happening.

Email host, Ebay, online banking, CC's....if you do a lot of business online you deal with the 2 step verification process.

Actually I prefer it, because if you have extended family or kids friends you don't exactly trust as far as you can throw them...and they get their hands on a password or a credit card #  they can copy thinking they can use that shit when they get home... up pops a text alert asking for verification or your confirmation...and it can shut down that nonsense a lot more quickly.

Damn this house I'm looking at with it's challenging triple street frontage! Street in front, street behind and street to the side.
It needs a garage but I have no idea where it's feasible to put one (and keeping it within council planning requirements as well).
No simple prefab colorbond shed on a slab for this one, sadly.

It's good to be home from a crazy work night.

After parking my car out in the sun for 2 years, I realise how important it is to have a garage. I really only have a carport though, but it covers my car well and it's not visible from the street. My car is safe.

The last time an RAC guy looked at my car, he said no one will steal it because of the alarm it has. Next car I'm getting will be fitted with the same type of alarm.

Been at the track all week, except for Wednesday morning when they set up my storage building.

These guys are going really fast!!
