thanx guys. he did mention two procedures, but he wasnt very talkative.

im almost inclined to TELL them to TELL me stuff, technical stuff, "boring" stuff, im aspie, i wanna know all that shit.
most people are content if the dentist simply knows what hes doing
i wanna know WHAT hes doing, and WHY, and HOW :D

So ask.

Tell your dentist you're an aspie if need be, and ask for the explanation. Will help you relax while he is doing the procedure.

Your dentist will have more patients who do much better with a thorough explanation. You won't be the first to ask, nor the last.

Oh, Callaway described the cleaning procedure the way it went for me better than I did. First cleaning out with bleach, then the clove smelling stuff, for the longer term disinfecting, while the temporary filling is in.

Whether you'll get additional medication will depend on how bad the infection is.

Hooray for nitrous oxide.  You may feel it, but you don't give a damn.  I have it when I have my teeth cleaned because I don't like the particles that seem to rocket from my mouth and the feel of the grit.  I almost asked if I could wear a mouth mask when I have my teeth cleaned, but realized that was absurd before I asked it.

When I had the root canal, I also had a rubber tooth dam, which looked like a green sheet of rubber with a tiny hole in it so it would stretch around the tooth, stretched in place with a frame.  That was so that any bits of filling or bleach or whatever didn't go down my throat.

i did nitrous for fun once
in fact, nitrous felt like a VERY mild effect of huffing/inhaling dietylether fumes, which is the most extreme high i have ever experienced.

I used to do whippets in the stockroom of a porn shop. what a rebel I am.

no really, it was pretty boring. I used to hang out at an adult bookstore and me and one of the clerks used to do whippets in the stockroom

sounds funner than it was

once caught a man jacking off behind the shop tho, he thought no one could see him but it was perfectly visible from the highway. That was a lot more fun that sitting there all day like I usually did.

btw, to those who went through w it,
after the swelling and anaesthetics finally faded away, im getting these random jolts of a cold stabbing pain in the molar

its not continous, and for a few minutes it came and went w some moments between, but now its like 20 minutes without any pain

is this something thats normal? :I
i dont wanna call him and get back under the drill if its something to be expected :I

I think that flashes of pain are pretty normal the first day or so after the shots wear off.  If the root canal doctor didn't give you a prescription for pain medicine, do you have some Tylenol or something like that?

Yes, though if it keeps up for more than 48 hours I would call the dentist back.  Did they send you home on narcotics?

Here they send you home with a big ibuprofen prescription. Stuff that won't be sold over the counter.

Go with what MLA said, give it 48 hours.

With me the pain was gone soon, but, I probably had a different kind of sedation. Can't deal with the usual local sedation. It takes months to disappear.
