Depends on what you mean by dead. There's been very little drama.
No drama, far fewer posts, and less people online. Perhaps dead is an overstatement, but it certainly seems to be in hibernation.
There seems to be about as many new posts every day in my unread threads. 
If you check in the stats center, you can see how many posts, page reads, members online, and page views, per day since the site started. All of these stats have dropped by almost half in the last year.
Im guessing this is more noticeable to me, because it's mostly the people I liked who have left, or stopped posting as much
