When brushing your teeth, do not decide to let the cat get a whiff of the toothpaste in your mouth.  She will bite your tongue.  But then again it may only have been that cat.  She was weird with her tastes.

My (in the garden) St John's wort is in bloom. Okay, for two or three days already but ja, I just noticed it again.  :green:

Might make an extract of the flowers of the plant later on.. when it had a bit of sunshine.

My grocery store never seems to be able to keep my favourite Naan in stock. They used to always have lots, and now it's hit and miss.  :P

Our bowling group was pandemonium today.  Excitable, raucous, the PR had a seizure, Dan actually spoke (he said unh), the pins and scores didn't match, etc.  And it's not a full moon.

'My' garden's blackbird looks quite bewildered the last couple of days. Think he's been fighting (to protect nest/youngster) with either a/some jackdaw(-s) or a magpie. Although I'm aware the corvidae family is quite intelligent.. still the nest looting they do makes me dislike them.

^ I was trying to remember your old username I've known you to use in other places and that post just brought it all back to me. Very cool.

With the neighbours gone for a week, and them having given me permission to use the pool, I've decided I'm a pool girl. Who knew? But taking turns swimming and playing with the kids, and sitting in the sun reading a good book has made me quite the happy camper.  8)

Ja, it was 'turdus' on earlier Zomg (Erminea on WP). Um, think what the English (GB) call the blackbird is not the same bird what the Americans (and Canadians?) call a blackbird. 'The new world' does have members of the Turdidae/thrushes family though (but not so the Turdus merula, I thought). Some very very pretty ones too (across the big pond).

Well, going blahiah as it is (love birds).. I'll just keep going on then  but ja, members of said family tend to have a beautiful and very creative song. European (and Asian) blackbirds sing lit. every 'line' differently. No two 'lines' are the same and can differ quite substantially from previous ones sung. Okay, some other birds do it too but quite a few have a way smaller repertoire. Songthrush copies other birds' songs.. also funny/nice to hear.

Um, years ago, living more up-north from here, I once saved a nest from a cat trying to loot it and, no kid ya.. the totally 'wild'/free female merula in the garden there, after cat ran off, came sitting on my shoulder for a (very) brief moment. Kinda read it as gratitude, shown.. and that experience was ja, a bit odd but nice too.

Had a turtle dove landing on 'my beatles hairdo' too (in this city.. a couple of years ago/scared it away.. doing (?) something to scare it away). For some reason, I became quite nauseated seconds after that happened.. and kinda keep a somewhat more distant (um, more normal, I suppose) approach/relation with birds since then, gradually.

Um still, quite often, greet birds I encounter with me doing some short whistling 'riff'.. for ja, I'm the bird whisperer (-'s assistant). :green:

Hmm...where did you find that WWII era poster? those warning posters would make great decorations for the lab.

Phosgene is evil stuff; very little warning properties. Chlorine STINKS and irritates the nose. One tiny whiff and you know to change the gas mask cartridge immediately, in fresh air.

I take care to keep my bottles of dichloromethane and chloroform out of the light, as UV irradiation catalyzes C=OCl2 formation. There are (usually) safer options to deliver phosgene equivalents to rxns such as diphosgene and triphosgene.
