As you become established as a grown up you begin to "quote"  those older than you as examples of how you would live your life or avoid living such a life.

I seem to refer to my father more and more these days. I wish for everyone a father as close to a hard, just, thoughtful, forgiving and perfect man as he.

I miss mine too. And yes, with plenty of things I do, I do think about how he would have done that. And I do refer to him a lot. Not only in the wise things. Also when I see some silly bits of him re-occurring in my girls. It makes me smile.
