My security software blocked one of my regular sites.
« on: February 26, 2011, 03:30:05 PM »
I have Trend Micro Security Pro software, and it just warned me that a gossip site I've visited regularly for over a year
might be harmful to my computer. I sure hope I haven't been loading my computer with harmful stuff all this time without knowing it.
Has anyone else had the experience of security software suddenly blocking a site they've been visiting for a long time?   :scratchhead:

Yes, it happens with some paranoid AV programs sometimes.

I have had that happen before.  Once I think it told me I2 was a phishing site :screwy:

Speaking of that, some dodgy thing calling itself "AVG Windows Security" or something like that has been posting
urgent warnings that my computer is dangerously infected and I must download a program to clean it.
Trend Micro blocked me from doing that, though, and odeon has told me that the "AVG Windows Security" was
actually a fake, trying to trick me into downloading infected software. So  :kissykissy:  Trend Micro for that!

WP on the other hand actually has some malware on it or used to have.

The internet is scary! How did the malware get onto WP in the first place anyway?  :zombiefuck:

Via adverts.

That's why I use Adblock and Noscript - eliminates two massive attack vectors.

That's odd. How do you decide whether or not to believe a warning?   :twitch:

And I don't think that Alex is very technically skilled either.
