I used to like it before I tried real bacon. I was raised a vegetarian.

Apparently  :bacon:  is an evil tempter for vegetarians.  I've heard of a few who returned to a
carnivorous diet after years of vegetarianism because they smelled some  :bacon:  cooking one day.

I remember my family telling me I wouldn't like bacon. I'm the only one who likes it.

In some ways I am very different from my family.

I switch from having a preference for green olives over black ones, and vice versa. At the moment I prefer green.

Why did they A-tell you you wouldn't like bacon, and B-have the presumption to tell you what you would and would not like?

And I do that, with olives.  I switch between preferring black and green. And I can eat them by the jar. I love pickled olives. Hate those purplish colored 'kalamata' olives though. I think of them as 'calamity olives', because they are a fucking disaster and generally speaking a filthy, odious wrongness and stain upon the surface of the earth. Like a purple salty pickled turd with a stone in the middle. Or donald trump's head. Oh....wait...... >:D

My mum is going through this stage of making food that is gluten free, thinking it is better for you. She even bought me gluten free cereal when I stayed over there last time.

I keep saying that you don't need to do that if you are not gluten intolerant. I have no trouble with gluten so I can eat it no worries.

You should try the kalamata olives with orange peel that they do in Waitrose. It sounds gross, but it's actually really, really delicious. They don't taste like ordinary kalamata olives. I recommend you try them, if you can get to a Waitrose. They're at the self-serve olive/salad counter.

I want to post that to mum, but she'll think I am having a go at her (which I would be).

Those olives sound absolutely revolting. If it were black or green olives, I'd go for it. I like the green olives stuffed with peppers. Even better with hot peppers in the center.
