If by bang stick you mean a gun, yes.  I'm not sure if it was a rifle or pistol or whether it was the Sheriff's deputies, the levee board police or an wild game guy.

A picture of a bangstick is above.  Basically part of a gun on the end of a pole.  When the end strikes an object the bullet is fired into said object.

Why use one? The point of a gun is that the user doesn't have to be that close to the target when it's fired. A bangstick is a slightly more dangerous spear.

I think because it will fire underwater and having the animal in contact with the muzzle means little or no water to slow down the bullet?

I have only seen them used on sharks.

I hate to post this hint in May, but it might be handy come winter.  Don't know if it works since snow and ice aren't common in New Orleans.

We have terrible winters up here in Maine, and for years I have used Dawn dish detergent (1 Tbsp.) in a pot of very warm water (not hot) and poured it outside onto ANY wood deck or steps. It WILL prevent ice from forming. I know it sounds sketchy, but try it, you will not believe it.

I remember reading a newspaper in Europe back in 1976.  There was an advert for an English retirement village with 99 year leases.  My first thought was, "And Hitler thought he could beat these people?"  Yes I know 99 year leases are common and can be re-sold, but it just struck me as hilarious.

It's a petty you can't understand Dutch. The reasonings of this Huibers are excruciating. He sneakily mixes evolutionism with creationism, and makes even less sense than anyone else on this subject.

And yes Queen Vic, me having the inside track is right. I have seen the 1:2 scale model from a distance.    Felt no need to come closer and pay for a visit inside.

Kids have been inside, because of some parents thinking that was important. Both came home laughing their arses off. The epic logic fail was clear to a 7 and 10 year old. I'm such a proud parent.
