The press release reads like a outreach program targeted directly at teenage criminals. Doesn't really sound that bad. There's simmilar thing like that here in the private sector.

the bit about kids being filmed getting changed is obviously worrying, but I'm guessing that was just an unforseen mistake - young kids here usually get changed in their usual classrooms

I also see nothing wrong with fingerprinting kids

Mabe they're two different things or maybe the cameras are a larger agenda with the members of the outreach program as inclusive. Do you think there are 20,000 teenage criminals in the UK?

Where I live, there are cameras installed on trains, buses and at train and bus stations. They have helped catch those who graffiti and also those who have assaulted other people.

I am in favour of cctv in public places. Not inside people's homes though.

But you can't walk down the street without being watched anyway - it's in public. you're outside. No privacy. end of.

There are always gonna be examples of misuse. That is obviously a problem and needs to be addressed, but loads of things which are ultimately beneficial can be corrupted. Doesn't mean we should ban them altogether.

As for MPs, police etc - they are on CCTV in the same way that you and I are. In public. They can only check up on what I'm doing when I'm in public too - fair imo

Big Brother can control everyone, of course, including MPs etc. What I'm saying is that you won't ever get access to that material but they can.

When GPS transmitters are small enough, Big Brother may consider adding them to their arsenal (and inside your skin). They'll promise to only use them when you are out there, in public.

Of course. But isn't that true of all similar information? Also there are what, 60million people in this country, what are the chances of the govt tracking my moves? tbh I think most people who are against cctv are a bit paranoid. Similar to the people who say we need guns to protect ourselves from the govt lol

I see what you're saying, but I really don't view it as a problem. Obviously where it's being abused, yes. But everything can and is abused, doesn't mean you should stop it altogether.
