Why is everyone muddling through Moby's Dick??  :zombiefuck:

It kept putting me to sleep when I read it.

So who was the dead fuck, you or Moby??

For someone who learned how to read early (was able to read a bit by kindergarten), I really
don't read well at all.  It's the attention span.  I don't have the patience to stay on the page all
the way through.  I get bored.  I skip around to the "good parts."  Always have.  :-[

My attention span sucks, too. It's not easy to finish some books. :-\

Mein Kampf. Even more clumsy in English than it is in German.

"Naked Lunch" and "The Hobbit"

YAAAWN

and "Mein Kampf" is indeed apparently a shitty read.
People love to think of Hitler as "evil, but very clever"

he wasn't. His book is stupid, and his "brilliant military strategy" Blitz consists of:
"Hey, what are our BIGGEST gunz?"
"Tanks, Mein Fuhrer."
"Okay, send ALL the tanks!!! :O"

I couldn't make it through the second-to-last Harry Potter. I ditched out sometime while they were stuck in a tent in the forest, having angst at each other.

Yeah, that was one loooooooooooong boring stretch.

Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy.  It's not bad, it's just dense and every time I start reading it something happens in my life that throws it off track and I have to stop reading.  Even tried the audiobook version and the same thing happened.  I think that book is just cursed for me.

Reading fiction for pleasure just doesn't happen when I am at uni or college. I don't enjoy it.

One of my work friends is a voracious reader, mostly of historical fiction.  She brings her Kindle
to work every day, reads it at lunchtime, and listens to the books on earbuds during other times.

Oh! I read that too, while I was writing my uni thesis. Guess which I preferred to read? ;)
