It will probably lead to more regulation and loss of freedom on the net than anything else. Like I said if it was uncovering some great secret cover up or something it might have been worth it
I'm worried about that too. Strangely enough, some conspiracy theorists speculate that all this was deliberate for that very reason. However the fallout of this leak shows that a consider amount of people aren't buying the bullshit the government is saying. The final draw card in the game is the insurance file, if that is decrypted and is as destructive as it made out to be, this is nothing what we're seeing right now.
Bear in mind these cables leaked go all the way back to 1966 and stop at February 2010; and approximately 2,000 of 251,287 of them have been released. So a LOT of information is still encrypted and undisclosed.
