whats everyone thing about this?

Interesting question. One poster said:

Trying to legitimise bigoted view by hiding behind the supposed morality of christian beliefs is all that is going on here.

How would they feel if my religion suggested that black people were somehow inferior to white? Would that be OK, could I legitimately say "I'm not a bigot, I just have strong religious views"?

They are bigoted people who should not have the right to brainwash a child with their hatred.

They make a valid point and its tempting to simply agree with that POV.

But then there really are passages in the Bible that condemn homosexuality, sad to say. Supposing that you believe that Bible really is the literal Word Of God, then you're not gonna be comfortable about ignoring those passages. You;re gonna have a lot of problems, in fact (like how to account for the contradicyions?) but that's gonna be one of them.

I've no reason to think that they are not just sincere people, and no more bigotted than the Jehovah's witness who believes that it's wrong to have a blood transfusion, and will  die for that belief, if necessary. It's a stupid belief, but to put it down to hatred...well, that's a bigoted assumption if ever there was one.

Yep, it could be really hard on a homosexual child that they happened to adopt. But, heck, nobody's a perfect parent, and if we first picked apart their beliefs, then we wouldn't allow anybody on earth to have kids.

I think that's very interesting and I think that Mr. and Mrs. Johns should be allowed to continue being foster parents.

I think there is a vast need for good foster parents, as they have already demonstrated themselves to be, and I don't believe that it's necessary for foster parents to share all their foster children's values.

As the article said:

Quote
‘Mr and Mrs Johns do value diversity – they will take any child.

‘Valuing diversity does not mean that you cannot have a disagreement or do not respect a person while not valuing certain lifestyles. The court must be mindful that these public policy objectives are not used to trump fundamental rights.’

What if their religious beliefs dictated that they could not teach a child that women were equal to men?

is anyone here against gay marriage? I want to discuss it with someone

Fraid not. I might seem all alpha male, but I have a really open mind when it comes to stuff like this.

They will always see that in my eyes.
I am the passion; I am the warfare.
I will never stop...
always constant, accurate, and intense."

I think anyone should be allowed to get married. Personally though. I would never want to get married to anyone. I don't see the need.

That's exactly how I feel about it. Marriage these days is merely signing a contract anyway, with divorce being the negotiations of terminating the contract. I don't see the 'magic' in such marriage ceremonies, when the divorce is a session in a unpleasant courtroom.

Existence actually has two broad meanings despite its apparent meaningless. The constant reconciliation of all its parts, and the conservation of any closed system as a whole.

Morality can be extrapolated from these meanings to make these two commandments of godless morality: 1). Be in harmony with one another and 2). Care for the environment.

Heh yeah, but the entertainment industry loves to delude people with 'fairy-tale weddings' and 'romances' though.

Yeah thats just for show. Correct.

Marriage is work, lots of it. And most of the time it doesn't last.

And I think THAT is what so many people don't realize. Anything you want to last you have to work at it. My parents have been together for 44 years, and married for 39 years and I've seen how hard they've worked at it. But because of that work, they're still very much in love with each other. Although sometimes my Dad says they're just in like. Depends on the day.

Indeed. Don't get the impression i'm wise or sagely or anything though. I'm only as wise as the people i'm around at the time.  ;)

A lot of people get married too quickly, before they even know each other properly.

Yeah. They just get horny, and the thought of being able to fuck someone every night gets them exited.

Its really not that simple, living with someone. Even on the short term. I've tried it.
