I had an Amiga 500 for 19 years.

I had an amiga aswell. I think it was A600, and an Atari ST 520. I got the hand me downs   . That was the early part of the 2000's. They were both well out of date then.

I don't really know a lot about computers. The Atari and Amiga seemed OK to me, but I didn't really know any better. By the time I got the Amiga, everyone that I knew who had a computer had a PC, so it was well out of date. For me the good thing about the Atari and the Amiga was that they were so old that I was given hundreds of games when they were given to me.

The computer I have is from 2002 my dad bought and he gave it to me to use and it still works but it's slow. My husband said the hard drive is about to go out. We only use it when one of our laptops is not in use like if we need a new power cord or the laptop is being fixed.

The laptop I am on now we got in 2008.

The very first computer I had was from 2004 that was hand built and my parents got it for me as a graduation gift and it stopped working in 2007. The mother board went out and the computer guy said it was cheaper to buy a new one.

I usually wipe the hard drive and reinstall the OS when I sell a computer. Last thing I need is something confidential being found or my porn stash being discovered, I mean how embarrassing.

usually, i take a big fat drill bit to the C drive and put as many holes in it, as possible. that way i know nobodys getting anything on me

All of them were used when I got them with the exception of one that I built.

Normally about 3 to 4 years, then I usually take them apart, save what I might need & scrap the rest.

Picked a 1 to 2 year old machine from the neighbors scrap pile last fall, gave it to mom after I cleaned a ton of adware off of the hard drive. Amazing how many people will invest in a good setup then run it with expired security or none at all...then set them out curbside when it starts to screw up.

Never a good idea to rid of a computer that hasn't been wiped properly. All it takes is good file recovery software to retrieve 'deleted' files.

I normally pull them, take them apart and kill the platters, or reformat a few times. You would be surprised how many people don't do anything though.

Yeah, if you knew the history of why it came about (the A600), it was the worst decision ever.
