If Temple Grandin is autistic, then my mother is autistic too, with "impulse control" problems which she never received any "training" for that Temple speaks so often of. I don't relate to this. I never needed that sort of training. I was just the opposite. My brain is more like a sponge, I learn everything instantly and automatically and I had very little need of discipline. Even my mother, contradictory to her behavior and actions said I could do no wrong so there isn't any impulse control problems that I can even remotely relate to. I was always extremely controlled and contained and a little adult as a child. Even now with where I have finally reached a good measure of legitimate anger, I am still rather contained, considering, and it just hurts my body more than anything else. It's a totally different animal as far as I'm concerned so I don't believe the "impulse control problems" we see in Temple's form of autism is really autism. I believe it is related to learning disability and/or ADD sorts of problems. I don't believe that the animal who beat the skin nearly off my body with thorny switches I was forced to pick myself when I was an innocent "autistic" child is the one who is really autistic. She also lacked empathy but that also goes with the learning disabled stuff. They think they own the market on "poor me" because they are so "slow", and likewise they have no sympathy or empathy for anyone. You'd better believe it!!! Heavy handed to be exact. No, I don't believe that is autism. I believe "impulse control" problems belong to a different label rather than autism and Temple Grandin has that wrong so I do very much question her diagnosis. Ignore if you like but these are some reasons why I take issue with Temple Grandin's form of Autism.
Temple Grandin, please feel free to sue me.
