I have a family history of colon cancer and had a colonoscopy 3 years ago.  They found a suspicious polyp, removed it and it came back okay.  But I was advised to come back in 3 years for a follow-up test.  That test came out negative for polyps.  I understand there's a pill you can take instead of the liquid, but I had to take the liquid instead.  I guess I'm fairly numb about medical tests because prepping for them and having them doesn't seem to bother me.

Were you awake for your colonoscopies or did they put you to sleep?

You have the option of being awake?

I think you have the right to refuse any treatment you don't want, including anaesthesia.

I was given a paper before the colonoscopy that said Blue Cross has decided that anesthesia is not medically necessary for a colonoscopy and they won't pay for it, so if I had Blue Cross insurance (which I do not) and wanted anaesthesia for the procedure, I would have had to pay the $200 out of pocket myself today, or I could have refused all anaesthesia and saved the $200.  I had propofol, the anaesthetic that killed Michael Jackson because one should only use this while being monitored by an anaesthesiologist, which I was.

I was asleep during the procedure.  I have BCBS through the State of Louisiana (retired).  Because it's through the State somethings are covered that wouldn't be otherwise.

My sympathies. Colonoscopies are no fun.

Thanks.  I hate that I will probably have to do it all over again in a year, but at least they found and removed a polyp that might possibly have grown into a cancer if they hadn't.

I was asleep during the procedure.  I have BCBS through the State of Louisiana (retired).  Because it's through the State somethings are covered that wouldn't be otherwise.

I'm glad you and I slept through it because I read mixed stories about people who were awake for it.  Some found it to be not that bad while others described it as gut wrenching horrible pain.

I remember waking up in the recovery room and asking, "May I go back to sleep now?"  The nurse answered that it would be better if I stayed awake.

I remember freaking the resident and eye surgeon when I had one of my cataract surgeries.  When I prepped for the surgery and feeling very, very nice, I told them  that when I was 80 I was going to try drugs because I loved how loopy they make you feel.  Instant halt, "Do you take drugs, etc?"  "No, when I'm 80 I will."

Hint:  If you wear your clothes you won't get sunburned there.   :zombiefuck: :penis:

For a fair-skinned person, I don't burn too badly; I get a little red, then the red turns kind of beige!  I don't tan, I beige!

^ I'm not as stringent with the even number thing as I was before but still tend to avoid almost every setting (for what ever apparatus) to end up with an uneven number. This also goes for chopping food up in the kitchen, designing/making something with wood, other things..

Um, OK, I'm still quite stringent with it.  :zoinks:

OK, so what is more important, an even number of chopping up movements, or an even number of cucumber-slices? OR will you go for crescents, just to make both even?
