Healthy Way to Kill Wasps
« on: August 01, 2010, 08:36:10 PM »
Well, couldn't find the insect spray when there was a wasp in daughter's room tonight, so I used the cooking spray again.  Didn't kill it, but it couldn't fly and fell to the floor where I stepped on it.  Great to have no lingering after odor of insect spray in the house.

The old Lysol aerosol spray made a great flame thrower. Too bad it is not available anymore.

I'd have more fun trying to capture it alive, and then chucking it out. (Without glooping it in oil that is.)

What you need is the Meropidae bird, which is native to Africa also occurs in southern Europe, Australia, and New Guinea, this is the Wasp's only known natural predator.  Sure you could waste money on chemicals that would probably work better than bringing a new speices of bird to set free in the US, but we have this thing called Evolution (in most states) that can wipe them out the natural way.  And this Meropidae bird is actually a really nice looking bird, so we gain that too.

Attracting the Honey Buzzard could do too, if you want a predator on wings.

But, the series on how to get rid of bothering critters using kitchen supplies may be more efficient in emergencies at home.

I have been the exterminator for my family for ever some others are allergic so it has always fallen on me.  I am a big believer in using what is at hand :zoinks:  I don't get poison Ivy either and have many ways of dealing with that too

You are immune to poison ivy? That's very cool!  :orly:

I've never had poison ivy either, walked right through the crap with bare legs & pull it out of the flower beds all the time.

My mother used to be the same, but suddenly when she hit 50 she couldn't get near it.

Mosquitoes don't seem to like me much either.

Wasps are a different story however, got nailed today walking out on the porch by one of the little assholes.  >:(

Maybe if I spray myself down with the cooking spray.
